MERGE MISSION PROJECTS

 

During your registration for MERGE, you will be asked to download and complete the MERGE Project Selection Guide which allows us to pair your group’s unique talents and passions with an appropriate project.  Listed below are some examples of potential projects at MERGE 2010:

Merge 2008 Fellowship

Community Projects

Children’s Home MinistryTakes place at a local children’s home or other ministry area for children.  The assignment varies from clean-up and organization of facilities to visitation and recreation with the children.

 

 Nursing Home MinistryTakes place at various assisted-living facilities in Toccoa.  Typically groups visit with the patients, write letters for them, and/or sing to them.

  

Vacation Bible School/ Sports CampAssisting a local church with community outreach through a Sports Camp, VBS, or similar ministry project.

Block PartyA casual gathering in a specific community/neighborhood to provide exposure for local ministries, positive entertainment for the community, and an informal setting for witnessing and ministry.  Each group provides all materials and equipment necessary for the block party, which can fall into either catagory below:

 

Entry Level:  Provides entertainment, recreation, and snacks. Usually held at a local church, residential area, or housing development.

Level II:  Provides entertainment, recreation, snacks, face painting, music, balloons, puppets, etc.  Provides food such as hot dogs, BBQ, watermelon, cookies, drinks, etc.  Inflatable games are also sometimes provided.  Usually held at a local church, residential area, or housing development.

Prayer Walking:  Walking through a community while specifically asking the Holy Spirit to strengthen local churches and to redeem the people, schools, government, businesses, etc...

Construction Projects

Each summer, MERGE works alongside the City of Toccoa on a variety of construction projects in a neighborhood restoration initiative.  Some materials may be provided by the city, but whenparticipating in construction, please expect to have some cost.  A supply list will be sent to you after being assigned a project.

Entry Level:  Includes cleaning, painting, landscaping.

Level II:  General maintenance of a home or ministry facility.  May require a crew cheif with general construction knowledge to direct the students.

Level III:  Significant construction or restoration of a home or ministry facility.  Requires a crew cheif to manage the group.
