MERGE is a new adventure offered to students where they are given a chance to live out their faith before believers and non-believers in a setting that is more than just a camp...It is an experience. This mission experience is a partnership between the local churches of Toccoa, GBC youth ministries, and the city of Toccoa.
MERGE is an experience that focuses on missions and fleshes it out through worship, missions, discipleship and fellowship that is customized to fit the needs of your students.
- Worship: Before the church can serve they must learn to first praise God. MERGE gives your students a time of worship that is Christ Centered. John Piper writes that "worship is the fuel for missions" At MERGE we want to see your students rejoicing in the Lord and singing praises to Him as the most High (Psalm (9:2).
- Mission: The focus of MERGE is to place your students in areas of service in the city of Toccoa. This experience will allow your students to serve the community through many different avenues. The first is through construction. The GBC is assisting the city through the revitalization of a targeted neighborhood. The initial phase of this revitalization will begin with renovation of the exterior of ten homes and through the adoption of the families of these homes. If construction is not for your group there will be various other ministry projects through which your students can express their faith. These ministries would include backyard bible clubs, prayer walking, assisting the local church with VBS, tutoring, block parties, etc.... Before placement at a site the mission coordinator for MERGE will contact your church to discuss the experience and desires of your student ministry and in cooperation with you match that to a local ministry.
- Discipleship: Through the messages of the speaker, daily devotions, and small group time in the evenings, your student will be taught that they must first love God and secondly they must learn to love their neighbor as themselves. The first commandment is the beginning of the worship experience while the second sees it fleshed out. At MERGE each student will be taught and shown by example what it means to be on mission for God and then ultimately how to take the things that they do in Toccoa and put them into play in their own communities.
- Fellowship: At MERGE students from across the state of Georgia will be partnering with students from Toccoa to reach people for Christ through service and love. Students will come together in small groups, in worship, and on the mission field to become a single body united by Christ to reach His Kingdom for His Purpose.
